At my school a valedictorian isn’t acknowledged because they don’t want to create competition. Speakers are chosen in a different manner. Everyone has an opportunity to audition to speak and speakers are chosen from that group. I auditioned in early April and I was chosen to give the invocation speech. Although they don’t acknowledge a valedictorian, I am certain I would not be it. However, I was recognized as being in the top 5% of my class. Thank you very much! x
